Mission And Vision
The power of the horse/human connection is well documented.
Horses can motivate, encourage, build confidence and increase strength in a person with special needs without saying a word.
Combine that with the intelligence, skill and love of our professional instructors and dedicated volunteers and you have a force that can change lives!
Who We Are
Since 1981, Hope on Horseback, formerly known as TREC, has worked to enhance the physical, mental, emotional and social well being of individuals with special needs.
Our program begins with the selection and training of horses that are well suited to the demands of working with individuals who may have varying degrees of physical ability.
Clients are carefully screened as they enter a class and a unique plan is developed, taking into account the treatment goals to be achieved. Horses and clients are carefully matched. Volunteers establish a relationship with both rider and horse and become an essential member of our team.
What We Do
Our reputation is built on providing services to the special needs community. That is, and will continue to be, our mission. Recognizing that the need for the therapeutic services we offer extends to many other populations, we have developed several new programs.
Working with educators, we offer class activities to benefit children and young adults with Autism Spectrum Disorder. We encourage veterans to get together on Saturday mornings to groom and tack a horse and learn to ride in a relaxed environment that encourages camaraderie.
We collaborate with both the Regional Cancer Center and the Crime Victims Center to offer specialized programs for the clients they serve.
